Gannett Westchester April 21, 1988 A Section Anne G. Whyte: ex-switchboard operator Anne G. Whyte, a retired switchboard operator, died yesterday at Dumont Nursing Home in New Rochelle. She was 76. cause of death was not diselosed.

She was born Nov. 23, 1911, to Lawrence and Anna Lowery Glynn in New Rochelle, where she attended public schools. She worked more than 35 years as a switchboard operator at the New Rochelle Professional Building until retiring many years ago. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle. Mrs.

Whyte is survived by a sister, Helen Kroyer of New Rochelle, and a brother, John H. Glynn of Rye. Another brother, Lawrence, died before her. James A. Cox: veteran James A.

Cox, a 14-year resident of Yorktown, died of cancer Tuesday White Plains Hospital Medical Center. He was 64. Mr. Cox was born June 27, 1923, to Frank J. and Imogene Brundage Cox in White Plains, where he attended public schools.

Mr. Cox was a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He participated in the invasion of Normandy and fought battles in the Ardennes, northern France, the German Rhineland and central Europe. On Oct. 13, 1973, he married Ruthann Batchie.

Zanis in White Plains; they moved to Yorktown in 1974. "He remembered names and places and events, especially the Battle of the Bulge, as if it were yesterday," his wife said. "It was fascinating to listen to him relate his experiences." Mr. Cox worked for A food stores for about 36 years, retiring in 1981. He recently had worked as a salesman at Lakeland Lumber Co.

in the Shrub Oak section of Yorktown. Mr. Cox was a member of the American Legion Post 1009 in Yorktown and attended First Presbyterian Church in Yorktown. In addition to his wife, of Yorktown, he is survived by two sons, Richard J. of Port Chester and Brian D.

of Beacon, N.Y.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Cerone of Port Chester; four stepsons, George A. Zanis, Paul J. Zanis and Joseph Zanis, all of Yorktown, and Matthew A. Zanis of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; two sisters, Marion Basso of Rye Brook and Ellen Deans of Fayetteville, four brothers, Frank of New Hartford, N.Y., David of White Plains, Ernest Peekskill, and George of Port Chester; and eight grandchildren.

Family and friends are making donations to the Organ Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights, N.Y. 10598. former member of planning boards the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. He was associated with a number of architectural and engineering firms in New York City and contractors in Venezuela before he retired in 1985. Mr.

Krusko was a member of the Yonkers Planning Board from 1965 to 1970 and of the Mount Pleasant Planning Board from 1981 to 1985. He also was a former member of the Mount Pleasant Republican Club, the Thornwood Lions Club and the United Home- Dorothy Dattner Stern: Dorothy Dattner Stern, an educator and counselor, died of cancer Tuesday at her home in Piermont, N.Y. She was 63. Born April 20, 1924, in Wilkes Barre, she was a daughter of Max and Sophie Dattner. Mrs.

Stern grew up in Luzerne, Pa. She moved to Manhattan in 1937 and graduated from Julia Richman High School. She graduated summa cum laude from Barnard College in 1945 with a bachelor's degree in anthropolgy and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. While at Barnard, Mrs. Stern was editor of the college yearbook and was honored for academic excellence and improving the quality of campus life.

Mrs. Stern also earned a master's degrees in counseling and guidance and in supervision and administration from Bank Street College in New York City. She married Richard M. Stern in New Rochelle in 1946 and moved to Eastchester, where she was active in the League of Women Voters and the Eastchester PTA. The Sterns moved to Piermont in 1975.

Mrs. Stern was a guidance counselor in the Yonkers public schools from 1970 to 1971. After leaving the Yonkers school district, she helped design educator, counselor and conduct a Bank Street study of factors affecting the ity of life of women educators. In 1983, Mrs. Stern began ing on the therapy of breast patients at Memorial Sloan ing Cancer Center in where she led group Dorothy Stern sessions of cancer patients and their families.

She also edited a training handbook for volunteers, prepared an annotated bibliography for mastectomy patients, and researched Dorothy Stern of interventypes tion for mastectomy patients. She also produced a manuscript intended as a practical guide for breast cancer patients and their caretakers. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Stern is survived by three sons, Dr. Richard M.

and Jonathon both of Pittsburgh, and Dr. David of New Haven, a daughter, Alice M. Gilbane of Berkeley, two sisters, Ruth Swan of Plandome, N.Y., and Shirley Stavsky of Great Neck, N.Y.; and two granddaughters. Hedda Krainin: retired interior decorator Hedda Krainin, a retired interior decorator and mother of a Rye Brook resident, died yesterday at Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital. She was 86.

The cause of death was not disclosed. Mrs. Krainin was born Aug. 19, 1901, in London, England, to Solomon and Bertha Stein Winkler. She moved to Canada, then to the United States as a young woman, settling first in Forest Hills, Queens, then in Great Neck, N.Y., where she spent most of her life.

She married Joseph Krainin in the mid-1920s in New York City; he died in 1981. Mrs. Krainin was a self-employed interior decorator for more than 40 years and retired when she was about 70. Two sisters, Dinah Feinsod and Clara Hanover, and two brothers, Nathan and Louis Winkler, died earlier.

Miss Lineberger is survived by her mother of New Rochelle; two sons, Robert Lee Lineberger of Mamaroneck and Henry Lewis of New Rochelle; and seven grandchildren. owners of Mount Pleasant, and he was a past chairman of the Central Committee of War Veterans Organizations of Yonkers.

He was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Austria-Hungary to Dimitri and Katerina Solanec Krusko. He came to the United States as a child and lived in Yonkers for many years before moving to Valhalla 17 years ago. After earning his bachelor's degree in architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, in 1938, Mr. Krusko served as an engineer in the Army during World War II.

He also served in the Army Air Corps and worked for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics at Langley Field, Va. Mr. Krusko married Olga Dychko on Feb. 19, 1955. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Savior in Rye.
