Walter F.

Griffiths of Stony Point, NY died at Nyack Hospital on December 26, 2000. He was 78. Mr. Griffiths worked as a computer operator at Lederle in Pearl River, NY. He retired in 1990.

He was born on September 5, 1922 in Manhattan, NY to Walter H. and Harriett LaFalcia Griffiths. Mr. Griffiths served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1945 attaining the rank of Gunners Mate 1.

He served on: the USS Philadelphia 41, USS Kennebec A0-36, USS Dorothea L. Dix AP-67 and USS LSMR-45. He participated in the invasions of: Safi in 1 North Africa, Scolitte in Sicily, Cherbourg, D-Day and St. Tropez, France. He received a Commendable Action award for Landing Troops Equipment.

Mr. Griffiths had lived in Stony Point for the past 30 years. Before that he lived in Pearl River and earlier in the Bronx. He was a member of St. Gregory's R.C.

Church in Garnerville and of Stony Point Senior Citizens. He will be remembered for being an avid bowler and gardener. Beloved husband of Margaret Helen Griffiths. He was the devoted father to Walter (Eileen), Thomas (Roni), Raymond (Cathie), Monica Long (Mark), Patricia Horan (Patrick), Mary Ellen Young (Mark) Robert Weygandt (Cecilia); and the loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren. Mr.

Griffiths was also the cherished brother of his sister, Gerry Griffiths of Ossining, NY and his brother, Raymond of Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Griffiths is also survived by several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held at St.

Gregory's R.C. Church, Garnerville, at 11 am on Saturday, December 30. Arrangements under the direction of A.W. Dutcher's Sons Funeral Home, 18 Lincoln St, Haverstraw, NY. McMahon a West Nyack resident, formerly of the Bronx, died December 28, 2000. He was born December 5, 1928 in New York City. He was the son of Aloysius X. and Kathleen (McManus) McMahon. Aloysius attended St.

Clare's Academy in Yonkers, Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx and Manhattan College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He married Kathleen (Fennell) McMahon on May 19, 1962 at St. Luke's Church in the Bronx. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, his sons Aloysius F.

and daughter-in-law Gina of Nanuet, Brian of Pearl River, and daughter MaureenAnn of West Nyack. He worked for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield for 44 years and retired in 1996. He was also a volunteer at St. Anthony's Parish and School. Visitation Saturday 7-9pm, Sunday 24 and 7-9pm and Monday 7-9pm.

CAROLINE, O.P. Sr. Caroline Patton, O.P., formerly, Barbara Ann Patton, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 47 years, died on December 29, 2000 in St. Dominic's Convent, Blauvelt.

Sister was 76 years of age. Sr. Caroline was born to Horace Patton and Carrie Schaefer Patton on January 22, 1924 in New York City. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic on September 10, 1953 from the parish of Mary, Queen of Heaven, Brooklyn, New York.

Sister received the Dominican Habit on July 5, 1954, professed her first vows on September 1, 1955 and her perpetual vows on September 5, 1958. Sr. Caroline's many years of active ministry were devoted to the education and care of youth as a teacher and childcare worker. She taught in St. Joseph's School, Milbrook, New York 1957-1961: and in the following schools in the Bronx, New York; Our Saviour School, 1961-1964; St.

Luke School, 1964- 1967; Lavelle School for the Blind, 1967-1968. Sister also ministered in St. Dominic's Home, Blauvelt, New York from 1968-1989. She served as a group living supervisor, 1968-1981; as a driver and escort for the children, 1981-1987; and in the purchasing department, 1987-1989. sister Caroline served as a driver at St.

Dominic's Convent from 1989-1996. Sister retired to St. Dominic's Wellness Center in 1999 until her death. In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Caroline is survived by many faithful friends.

Sr. Caroline held the B.S. in Education from Dominican College, Blauvelt, New York. Relatives and friends can attend services at St. Dominic Convent, 196 Western Highway, Blauvelt, New York.

Carmela was the loving mother of Rose Marie Raccioppi of Tappan and Deanna Prigge of the Bronx, endeared grandmother of Patrick Raccioppi of New York City, Charles Raccioppi and his wife Stephanie of West Haverstraw, Christopher Raccioppi and his wife Christina of Tappan, Dana Prigge of New Jersey, Steven Prigge of New York City and loving greatgrandmother to Paige and Jake Raccioppi. Carmela is also survived by her sister, Rose Magnoe of Blauvelt and Ann Fusco of New Jersey, who because of her devotion and care look upon Carmela as both sister and mother. Carmela is applauded by her family both near and far as a woman who survived many of life's more difficult challenges. Her last days were spent in Atria in Chestnut Ridge.

She was embraced by the love she so wanted to give Carmela will be remembered for her diligence, her dignity, her independence and the care and love she shared. Carmela will be reposing Monday, January 1, 2001 at the Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY, 10960 24 and 69 pm. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Ann's, 9 Jefferson Street, Nyack, NY, at 10 am on Tuesday, January 2, 2001. Burial will follow at St.
