B4 THE JOURNAL-NEWS, FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1987 OBITUARIES Murderer gets ill at sentencing By Shaun Assael Staff Writer A Connecticut man who murdered his mother because he thought she was a witch was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison Thursday, shortly after becoming ill in front of the judge. Swaying unsteadily and nodding his head in a groggy manner, Wesley Wallace, 24, stunned the court-room by vomiting before Westchester County Judge Kenneth Lange. The incident occurred just seconds after his attorney, Robert McGrath, became concerned about his client's health and suggested Lange find out whether Wallace was on drugs. His illness prompted a brief recess, after which Lange said that officials at the Westchester County Jail reported Wallace was not taking any' medication and was capable of understanding his sentence. Wallace was convicted by a jury last month of killing 40-year-old Pernell Wallace of Mount Vernon by firing a Magnum point-blank in her face because he thought she was casting spells on him.

Lange cited a confidential probation department report that indicated Wallace had also threatened other members of his family and recommended he not be made eligible for parole because of the likelihood that he could commit murder again. or to the New Hempstead Presbyterian Church, New City.
