Tuesday, June 24, 1997 JN in Obituaries Rockland Journal-News Rabbi Benjamin By Elizabeth Johnson For the Rockland Journal-News A memorial service has been set for Monsey native Rabbi Benjamin Schmeltz, the founder and the spiritual leader of the Murray Hill Synagogue in New York City. The service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the synagogue, 136 E. 39th New York City. He died at his New York City home June 5, 1997.

He was 31. Rabbi Schmeltz established the Orthodox congregation in 1993, the B'nai Zion building on 39th Street. Under his leadership, the new congregation began attracting both families and singles and grew to include members of more than 120 families. "The people who regularly attend our service came for one reason Rabbi Schmeltz," said Rabbi Daniel Green, the assistant rabbi at the synagogue. "People were just drawn to him." Hegarty 55: moving company manager, former Garnerville resident George C. Hegarty a former Garnerville resident, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at his home in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 55. He was born Dec. 20, 1941, in the South Bronx to John and Christina Kiely Hegarty.

He married Antonieta Barrios in 1963 in the Bronx. They later divorced but remained very close. Mr. Hegarty worked as an operations manager for Beacon Mayflower Movers in the Bronx for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Before that he worked for the 7 Herbert C.

Klaiber, 80: founder, New City ambulance corps Herbert C. Klaiber, a former resident of New City, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Mercy Community Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y. He was 80. He was born July 13, 1916, in Brooklyn to Albert and Rose Brecht Klaiber. On Aug.

11, 1940, he married Alice Louise Munson in Jamaica, N.Y. She died previously. Mr. Klaiber moved to Cuddebackville, N.Y., six years ago. He lived in New City most of his life and was a retired maintenance worker for Jawonio in New City.

He was a member and one of the founders of the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was an avid bowler and bowled throughout Rockland, his family said. Mr. Klaiber was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He is survived by a son, Kenneth H.

Klaiber of Cuddebackville; a daughter, Patricia Giella of Nyack; a brother, Clifford Klaiber of Long Island; and three grandchildren. There are no calling hours and a private service will be held later. Memorial donations may be made to the Cuddebackville Reformed Church, P.O. Box 293, Cuddebackville, N.Y. 12729.

The Knight- Funeral. Home in Port Jervis is handling the arrangements. Samuel R. Trimble, 53: funeral home director Samuel R. Trimble of Landing, N.J., died of cancer Sunday, June 22, 1997, at his home.

He was 53. He was born Feb. 16, 1944, in Hackensack, N.J., to Samuel and Ethel Maxwell Trimble. Mr. Trimble married Iris Rosenberg in the Bronx.

He was a funeral director at Hellman Memorial Chapels in Spring Valley. He had worked there since 1992 and was to manager in 1996. His son Michael S. Trimble is a director at the funeral home. Prior to that he worked in the Bronx at Riverside Memorial Chapel for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed motorcycling. He was a member of the New CityOrangetown Lodge 854 of the Knights of Pythias, Chapter of the Gold Wing Riders Association and former member of the North Jersey Riders. "Sam was a man of compassion who served the Jewish community in Rockland County since 1992," said Jamie Dranow, his friend and vice president of Hel-Iman Memorial Chapels. He is survived by his mother of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.; his wife, Iris of Landing; a daughter, Kellie Hamburger of Milford, N.J.; three sons, Michael S. Trimble of Stanhope, N.J., Samuel T.

Trimble of Morristown, N.J., and Ralph Aiello of Landing; a sister, Kathy Mikoloski of Hasbrouck Heights; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, Main Road in Landing. Entombent will follow at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah in Paramus, N.J. A period of mourning will be observed through Monday evening at the family's home.

When growing up in Monsey, Rabbi Schmeltz attended Adolph H. She immigrated to the United States in 1930 and settled in New York City. She became a U.S. citizen in 1958. In 1933, she married John O'Boyle at St. John's Church in the Bronx.

Mr. O'Boyle died in 1991. Mrs. O'Boyle lived in Suffern for four years. Before that she lived in Harriman for four years and Monroe for 12 years.

She was employed by the Archdiocese of New York and worked for 25 years at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx in the dining room of the priest's native, dies at 31 ed from Yeshiva Shaarei Torah high school in Suffern. Daniel M. Schreiber, 44: retired respiratory therapist Santini Brothers Moving Co. for 15 years. He is survived by two sons, Stephen of Garnerville and George of Monroe, N.Y.; two brothers, Jack of Boston and Stephen of Sloatsburg; a sister, Maureen Tigh of Levittown, N.Y.; and twin granddaughters. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:15 a.m.

Thursday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Roman Catholic Church, Cinder Road, Garnerville. Burial will be in Mount Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw. Calling hours will be today and tomorrow at Higgins Funeral Home, Route 9W, in Stony Point. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Executive Suffern, N.Y.

She is survived by two sons, James O'Boyle of Monroe and Harry O'Boyle of Congers; a daughter, Marion Burbridge of Monsey; two brothers, Patrick O'Boyle of England and Henry O'Boyle of County Kerry; a sister, Margaret Finnucane of Ireland; 11 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren. A son, John, died in 1989, a brother, Frank, died in 1993, and a sister, Elizabeth, died in 1987. Calling hours are this evening and tomorrow at the Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St. in New City.

A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Still Road in Monroe. Burial will be in St. Anasta- Daniel M. Schreiber of Berne, N.Y., a retired respiratory therapist and former Yonkers resident, died of pneumonia Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Albany (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital.

He was 44. Mr. Schreiber worked at Nyack Hospital from 1990 until his health forced him to retire this year. He was born Feb. 27, 1953, to Edwin and Anna Martino Schreiber in Yonkers, where he graduated from Yonkers High School.

Mr. Schreiber married Nancy Sorrentino in Yonkers. He was an avid reader, his family said. In addition to his wife, Mr. Schreiber is survived by a son, Scott of Berne; his Yonkers; two brothers, of mother, Yonkers and Edward of Voorheesville, N.Y.; and a sister, Mary Jane Sapienzo of Voorheesville.

A sister, CarolAnn Bellenchia, died earlier. The wake is today at Reilly Son Funeral Home, Voorheesville. The funeral will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church in Voorheesville.
